Factory in Tullamarine

As you take off from the south runway at Tullamarine, look east, and you'll see a bright orange building in a sea of grey concrete. This is the factory designed for www.airpoweredservices.com.au. We designed it to make the building look like a heat sink from a compressor. The front entry of the building is shaped with deep blades, similar to the cooling function inherent compressor geometry. The shape of the office component then ramps up to allow it to meet the height of the warehouse roof behind.

We then decided that we should paint the building in the brightest shade of orange possible, which is then combined with the company colours in a geometric graphic that is fun and bright for Tullamarine. The simplicity of form in this project was successful, including the intentional and brutal regularity of window size and placement on the western façade.
